'Chav, please just shut up!'

What is it with the working class (or rather under class) these days? I am not talking about all the working class, of course, but a particular 'group' (is a better way to put it). I refer to these groups as Chavs, Scallies or one of my favourite has to be Scroats (as used by James Stannage who was once a talk show host for Key103 in Manchester, until he was sacked).

I have just been walking home from my village after having a lovely drink and reading the latest issue of Elle, only to be slightly disturbed by a group of ugly, hard-done-by Chavs who decided to ask me a passing question; "Is anyone waiting for you when you get to the end of here?" - Get to the end of where? Whats it got to do with this...'fool' anyway? Where I go, what I do and whoever I am meeting is my business and my business only - why do Chavs feel they have the right to interfere in the lives of others?

There was a case a couple of months back when I go off the bus and some Chav decided to make a comment along the lines of; "You look anorexic" - once again what has it got to do with this 'individual'? Yes I am tall, yes I have skinny legs but whether I eat or do not eat, or have some kind of psychological mental illness such as an eating disorder has nothing to do with this imbecile.

You know what I dread? Summer holidays when all the Chav children are off school (even though they tend to get louder as they get older, it must be because they are losing more brain cells obviously - but I doubt they had many to start with in the first place). During the summer holidays I had a group of Chav teenagers get off a bus (I was wearing a short dress) - but one of the Chav boys decided that he could make a comment; "Nice legs, what time do they open?" - how VERY dare he!!! This was a TEENAGE boy, around fourteen years of age, why on earth did he think he had a right to make such a comment!? At that very moment my bus pulled up, so I shouted at him; "dirty mouth Chav" - his response was; "whaaaaaaat?" A typical Chav response, to be honest he looked rather embarrassed and his friends looked amuse no more.

I know Chavs come from a culture of uneducated parents, council housing, having a love for lots of gold and Burberry - but if the person does not know me then I do not want them to say "hello" never mind make a comment or ask me a question, especially if it is a Chav.

It is even worst when you have to get a bus (like myself, as I am a student and have no other form of transport) and buses always seem to be full of Chavs. And these Chavs are the single mothers with their four (or more) pick and mix children, we have to sit there and listen to these 'things' while they scream, cry and rub their snotty nose on the handle of the seat. While the school children (once again) seem to think it is okay to scream, shout and make comments at other individuals that are on the same bus ride without expecting to be shouted at or if the passengers are extremely lucky one of the passengers might just (fingers crossed) give them a slap.

Do not even get me started on their names, but what has happened to lovely and classic English names like Charlotte and Oliver? Now we have Jodie or Kadi or Taylor or Calvin - *sigh*...or some other stupid made up name like 'Mischalina'. The 'Chav culture' just seems to be getting worst and I wince everytime I have to walk past them (or even share transport with them) because you can guarantee that 98% of the time they are going to say or do something, but to be honest, I just wish they would shut up.

LOL!

Are you chavs then?

I do like it when the underclass think they can try and educate me.

Hi Selena,
I agree with some of what you are saying. The over all standards of society are slipping. I do however thinks it's unfair to call the children 'things' they can't help how they are being brought up or by whom. It's upto the more educated, which you seem to be, to guide and raise the standards for everyone.

Its a blog, not everything on here is completely serious. Chavs are the underclass that do cause problems for myself and others. Children learn from their parents, I can not try and educate another individual when they are not willing to learn or have the support of others.
This comment on my blog was aimed at Chavs, not at children. If anything, I do feel sorry for children from such backgrounds - it is not their fault and they did not ask to be born.
BUT...it is not my fault either, nor do I ask them to make passing comments at me, abuse me or make indecent gestures.
I actually come from a 'working class' background, but I do not class myself as working class - after all I am educated, I am graduating next year plus I am getting my degree from one of the best universities in the country.
I did this myself, my own hard work...I do not want to associate myself with these individuals that try and drag others down because they are not happy nor comfortable with their own lives.
I do have a certain kind of acquired taste for art, fashion, feed, knowledge, philosophy and so forth. This is somewhat of a cultural capital that I have developed and can passed down to my own children, I have learnt from the world around us and we can not always be politically correct all the time. Some people will find this funny, others won't.
After all this is MY blog - these are my thoughts, my beliefs, my comments and my arguements. You are welcome to have your say (after all 'anonymous' made an intelligent comment) - but when people leave comments telling me to shut up or smell the coffee just comes across as immature, uneducated and extremely silly. If you do not like the blog (or do not understand it) - then do not read it, simple as that. What I do not understand why have so many people started posting on my blog when this was put up in September!?
If anything, this blog is read by educated people and individuals I know from 'The Fashion Spot', my university and so forth.
Anyway...why don't such individuals get on at Matt Lucas (Little Britain for being Vicky Pollard) or various comedians, journalist, etc - that actually make a living taking the mick out of Chavs and writing about them?

'Nuff said!
